The Riches of Christ
We begin the month of February by celebrating the feast of the Presentation of the Lord, which recalls the days when Joseph and Mary took the five-week-old Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem. According to Jewish Mosaic Law, the first-born male of a family was to be presented to the Lord as a sign of gratitude for God’s generosity. The Feast of the Presentation falls exactly forty days after Christmas. It is not usually on a Sunday, but this year we celebrate it as a solemn feast! By the time we get to the end of February, we will be in the first days of the Season of Lent! In the coming weeks, then, a good opportunity for us to imitate Mary and Joseph in our gratitude to God for the blessings we have received. This month’s Community Prayer speaks of “The Riches of Christ,” and reminds us that everything we have received from the Lord is given to us for the good of all. So we strive to share the rich blessings we have received so that these can be, in turn, blessings for everyone! Just click the image below to see this month’s prayer!
