Day by Day Through Lent: Day Thirteen

He was transfigured before their eyes ...

From centuries past, Friday was considered a particular day of penance for the Church, as it was the day of the week on which Jesus was crucified. Many will remember that Fridays were "days of abstinence" for Catholic Christians; all meals were meatless. (This also gave rise to the tradition of Friday night Fish Fries in many parishes!) On our parish "Day by Day Through Lent " journey, our Friday prayer is one of so-called "penitential psalms" from the Old Testament. Today's prayer is Psalm 102, sung here by Jason Coghill.
