Feast of Saint Matthew
Late summertime greetings to all! As we move into the season of fall we can enjoy warm days and cool nights, and as activity begins to pick up around the parish, we can be thankful for the blessings of the past few restful months.
This month, of course, we celebrate the feast day of our patron saint, Matthew, the Apostle and Evangelist. Our parish community prayer this month invokes Saint
Matthew. This prayer unites us in our common mission, of which Matthew wrote in his Gospel: the mission of proclaiming the Kingdom of God!
We are also bring to an end our year-long celebration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the parish. We have been blessed by the many different activities and celebrations of the past year! Thank you to all who have participated!
The final events of the anniversary year will take place on the weekend of the Feast of Saint Matthew, September 21 and 22. All are welcome to attend the Potluck Supper on Saturday September 21. It will be “A Night to Remember and a Night to Dream.” Besides sharing a common meal, we’ll hear from a couple of folks, who will share their memories of the parish over the years, share our own stories, and see a video that highlights the events of our anniversary year! We’ll also spend a little time looking forward as we “dream” about the parish we want to be in the future: Where do we want to go now? What kind of parish do we want to be? Plan to attend if you can! Please call the Parish Office to make your reservation!
Finally, of Sunday, September 22, we’ll have a Community Brunch after the 11:00 Mass. Again, all are welcome! And again,, please call the office to let us know you’ll be there! Let’s continue to work and pray together as a parish community! Saint Matthew, pray for us!
